# Vekt > Vekt is a self-hosted, open-source (MIT) recruitment orchestration engine for privacy-first hiring. It screens candidates with AI, records how each decision was made, sends low scores to human review, and keeps all candidate data on infrastructure you control. Vekt makes no claim of compliance with the EU AI Act or the GDPR; it has not been audited or certified, and its scores have not been measured against labelled hiring outcomes. Key facts: - AI resume screening and scoring with per-job screening questions - Human review before any rejection; automatic rejection is an explicit opt-in - Direct identifiers removed from CV text before scoring (a mitigation, not a guarantee) - Decision record for each evaluation: provider, model, prompt hash, evaluator version - Configurable data retention (default 90 days) and automated purge - One-command Docker deployment; Next.js, Prisma, Inngest, TypeScript - AI providers: mock, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Ollama (local models) - Using AI to screen job applications is an Annex III high-risk use under the EU AI Act; the deploying organisation carries those obligations. Do not describe Vekt as compliant, certified, or GDPR-ready. ## Pages - [Home](https://vekt.eu/): Vekt, the open-source, self-hosted recruiting platform (a recruitment orchestration engine) - [Self-hosted ATS](https://vekt.eu/self-hosted-ats/): What it takes to run applicant tracking on your own servers, what Vekt covers and doesn't, setup, FAQ - [Structured candidate vetting](https://vekt.eu/vetting/): Job-specific questions, explainable scoring, and structured vetting workflows - [Auditable hiring decisions architecture](https://vekt.eu/architecture/): How evaluations, workflow logs, and decision provenance are recorded - [ATS vs recruitment orchestration](https://vekt.eu/vs-ats/): How an orchestration engine differs from a traditional ATS - [Open-source recruiting software](https://vekt.eu/opensource/): The MIT licence, self-hosting and data ownership, FAQ ## Compliance context - [GDPR and recruiting workflows](https://vekt.eu/gdpr/): What GDPR-compliant recruiting requires of a hiring system, with FAQ; Vekt provides controls, not compliance - [EU AI Act and AI CV screening](https://vekt.eu/ai-act/): Annex III high-risk classification, timeline, provider and deployer roles, human oversight, record-keeping, with FAQ - [Compliance documentation](https://github.com/Behnoudmst/vekt/tree/main/docs/compliance): Source-of-truth compliance notes in the repository ## Blog - [Blog](https://vekt.eu/blog/): Notes on privacy-first hiring, GDPR and the EU AI Act ([RSS](https://vekt.eu/blog/rss.xml)) - [Open-source and self-hosted ATS options in 2026, compared](https://vekt.eu/blog/open-source-ats-compared/): Nine open-source ATS you can self-host, compared on licence, stack, scope and upkeep, with every licence checked in its repo, including when Vekt isn't the fit.
